Benevolent Fund

The Benevolent is in the process of being wound up as per the resolution passed at the 2025 AGM

 LINCOLNSHIRE BOWLING ASSOCIATION BENEVOLENT FUND

(Registered under the Charities Act 1960)

CONSTITUTION

1.         TITLE, NAME, OBJECTS AND CONSTITUTION

The Benevolent Fund being an auxiliary Fund to the General Fund of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association shall be known as The Benevolent Fund of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association’.

2.                                          OBJECT 

The Benevolent Fund may be used only for the purpose of making donations to members of Clubs Affiliated to the Lincolnshire Bowling Association, Association widows and/or children of deceased members of such clubs who may need financial assistance.  No alterations shall be made to this clause without the consent of the Charity Commissioners and no amendment shall be made to the constitution that would cause the charity to cease to be charitable by law.

3.                                 MANAGEMENT

The Management of the Benevolent Fund shall be vested in the Committee of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association.  The Officers of the said Committee shall be the Executive Committee who will deal with all applications for relief or assistance and the Treasurer for the time being of the Association shall act as Treasurer of the Fund.  All applications for relief or assistance shall be made to the Secretary of the Association who will place the same before the Executive Committee for consideration.   In the event of urgent necessity, the Secretary of the Association, together with the President shall be empowered to deal with the necessitous cases, but not to exceed the sum of £50.  The Committee of the Association may also in its absolute discretion, delegate its powers of Management to not less than four of the members of such Committee one of whom shall be the Treasurer for the time being of the Association, provided always that any such delegated powers, may not be exercised in any case in excess of £100.

4.                                      MEMBERSHIP

The membership shall consist of all those who have been enrolled as members of affiliated clubs and who are in actual membership at any time any application has been made for relief or assistance or the widows of children of such members.

5.                                        ACCOUNTS

A Bank Account and a book of Accounts of all monies received and from what source shall be properly kept and all payments or disbursements recorded and the investments shown.  The Books shall be properly audited and certified and a balance sheet prepared, a copy of which shall be sent to the Secretary of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association for the purpose of publishing the same.

6.                                    ANNUAL MEETING

At the Annual General Meeting of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association the audited balance sheet of the Fund shall be presented to the members.

7.                                       DISSOLUTION

(1).If at any time the Committee of the Lincolnshire Bowling Association shall decide that the purposes of the Fund cannot in the circumstances continue to be carried out they may by resolution determine that the cash investments and other property held on account of the Fund shall be transferred to the Lincolnshire Bowling Association if the same shall then exist, but such resolution shall only be effective if it is confirmed by a meeting (the notice of which shall state the terms of the resolution) called by the Committee of all persons entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting of the Fund.

(2).If the Lincolnshire Bowling Association shall not then exist the said cash investment and other property shall be applied for any similar charitable purpose determined by the Committee in accordance with a scheme to be settled by the Committee (with the approval of such meeting of the Fund as aforesaid), subject to the approval of the Charity Commissioners.
